Service Description
OVERVIEW In the On-Camera Comedy Class, you’ll find confidence in your artistry and comedic abilities. We’ll work to merge your humor with the technical requirements of comedy. In the process, you’ll re-build a workflow and acting process that feels comfortable, makes sense and produces the results you desire, within the genres of comedy. You’ll learn how comedy is created, written and acted. We’ll explore the differences between multi-cam, single cam and sketch comedy styles. Special attention will be paid to the history of comedy in film and television, script analysis and the on-set responsibilities of the professional, comedic actor. LENGTH OF CLASS 3 Hours, Once a Week, for 4 Weeks PREREQUISITE We recommend that you take the 8-Week On-Camera Acting Class before the comedy class. However, it is not a requirement. If you are a new actor to the studio, schedule a 20-minute consultation to discuss your individual needs. WHAT WILL WE DO? For On-Camera Comedy Class, you’ll read comedy scripts, watch film and television, learn new comedy skills that build upon each other, practice skills through exercises, apply new lessons in weekly scene work and receive detailed feedback on your work. You will create self-tapes so that we can review your work in class. WHO IS THIS CLASS FOR? This class is for professional actors who possess strong acting abilities and are looking to hone their on-camera comedy skills. HOW MUCH WORK IS DONE OUTSIDE OF CLASS? ARE THERE REHEARSALS? You will need to read the assigned scripts and watch the assigned television and film. You will need to review your notes and prepare your scenes for each class. Rehearsals outside of class are done with or without your classmates; I recommend rehearsing at least 20-60 minutes per day, minimum, on your own. HOW MANY STUDENTS ARE IN A CLASS? Enrollment is limited to 10-14 students. It’s important that each person get individual attention each week.
